How do I go back to Lightroom 4.4 after using LR 5 for a month?

i in process of downloading lr5.2 release candidate see if work @ least little better. besides being slow, system crashing regularly when lr5 being used. doesn't crash when lr5 not running.

 

but, i'm considering going lr 4.4 while. still loaded, not open catalog made lr 5.

 

my lr4.4 last files made month or ago, if went last one, it'd missing files added since switching on 5.

 

what easiest way me able open new catalog in old version?

 

or, open last working 4.4 catalog , tell sync itself. that'd adding 4000 files, not sure it'd know find new folders might have created. fwiw, main catalog has around 190,000 images right now.

 

windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, 12 gigs of ram.

you can't read lr5 catalogs lr4, instead:

 

save (xmp) metadata in lr5, quit.

 

reload previous (lr4) catalog in lr4.

 

import new photos in lr4 (those in lr5 catalog weren't/aren't in lr4 catalog yet), , read (xmp) metadata older photos edited in lr5.

 

you'll lose edits aren't compatible, , other changes made lr5 catalog not in lr4 catalog lost, that's best can (short of using plugins and/or sql recover more stuff, mean).

i have been searching time way edit metadata of video file created along de-novo file. specifically, vlc example, displays metadata text when begins playing file. trying access to. seems me, if there way create metadata in first place, there *must* way edit it. how? using either 11.04 or 12.04 kubuntu. nautilus it's nice icon displays of photos , vids. typically use gwenview , gimp photos , vlc , avidemux video. these tools work things, occasionally, there video has wrong or verbose metadata , far have found no way edit stuff. vlc has option purports work in cases, not reliable, looking swiss-army-knife solution can handle multiple formats (avi/wmv/mpg/mp4/etc/etc) in manner exfalso audio files.
