Thread: Connection to Ubuntu server freezes from public wifi

having little bit strange problem @ hand, search didn't show similar issues.

when opening ssh connection (using putty) server, works normally. if execute command (example 'ls -al') prints multiple lines of text, connection freezes immediately.

same thing when trying access apache web server. browser starts load data stops. took trace , noticed server sends 404 error when trying load favicon icon (favicon.ico not found in server).

again same thing sftp (winscp), connection opened freezes when trying fetch directory list.

dyndns hostname used (tried straight ip).

whole thing happening when using 1 hotel wi-fi connection (staying here quite long quite annoying). if go other internet hotspot, works normally.

know there's wrong hotel wi-fi still believe there's can done in server side prevent this? mean can access other servers no issues @ all.

already.

i have identified ssh sessions hangs when server sends "too much" data ssh client. wireshark trace shows when connection hangs, if enter commands in putty window, sent server, no answer coming back.

example if run command 'ifconfig' connection stays up, when running 'ifconfig -a' hangs immediately. same thing example irssi, if decrease size of putty window, can open irssi screen, if size of window "normal", ssh session hangs.

similar cases reported, people have been talking mtu sizes, no final answer exist what's causing this.
