Thread: Iso file size incorrect

hi there,

have installed 64 bit ubuntu desktop (12.04) , have subsequently downloaded 32bit desktop iso friend. when firefox download dialogue completes shows file size of 701mb, however, size on disk appears 735.4 mb (735,358,976 bytes) not fit on standard cd.

there doing wrong or can do?

firefox shows filesize in megabytes (mb).
can calculated using following formula:
735358976 / (2 ^ 10) = 701.29296875 mb

nautilus shows filesize in mebibytes (mib).
can calculated using formula:
735358976 / (1000 * 2) = 735.358976 mib

you're not doing wrong. can't use cd.
seems difference there annoy people , me.

i have been searching time way edit metadata of video file created along de-novo file. specifically, vlc example, displays metadata text when begins playing file. trying access to. seems me, if there way create metadata in first place, there *must* way edit it. how? using either 11.04 or 12.04 kubuntu. nautilus it's nice icon displays of photos , vids. typically use gwenview , gimp photos , vlc , avidemux video. these tools work things, occasionally, there video has wrong or verbose metadata , far have found no way edit stuff. vlc has option purports work in cases, not reliable, looking swiss-army-knife solution can handle multiple formats (avi/wmv/mpg/mp4/etc/etc) in manner exfalso audio files. "ffmpg" command-line tool not work way, may part of app does. there video geek out there in ubu-land has known solution? folks use create these files in first place? thanks, ct use c...
