Thread: Reinstalled 11.04 and lost all needed settings, files, etc.

only newbee [as i] make such horrible mistake. thought put in os files - , not remove the: history, configuration files etc. [they done expert on many weeks - , not alive]....so, have system won't configure 3 screens; won't configure ati ccc driver, won't print , several other long-fought configurations gone - history, allow me re-create fixes. however, think not lost....i made copy of system , on disk [now seen /dev/sdb1]. on there file /boot/initrd.img-2.6.38-13-generic [and other versions had had installed] think need copy/move/unpack? main system , [?] ok?!?!?!?!? - i: 1] don't know how , 2] if should...though seems should. else might have move [and how so]?

please , please not assume know anything..i'm beginner @ this...or i'd not have made mistake! please tell me step step , ask / tell make above more of problem solution. many thanks! difference between 'old' copied system , new addition of ubuntu studio [which think not make difference -but don't know].

nb - think trying configure ccc again [it took expert days] take me months, not if can avoided. ditto making printer [cannon mp 540] , several other devices. seems configurations these devices gone....]

nbb - , while i'm @ it...during update 2.6.38-14 installed, says 'virtual' after , doesn't boot...what that?! move down 13 , boots..or did...now boots in low video mode [or seomething - i'm in windoz now]

looking further, in copied [about month old] grub files are:

files.....
question, how , [all?] of these move main device/os - , dangers precautions need taken account? much!

more hunting found copyied [month old, needed changes before then!] history file!....but not confident how move system in sda1 or if cause problems there...nor how execute commands - if possible. have printed out [30 pages]. there .bashrc file size seems important. do?! trial fire.....i'll intermediate after this!

more hunting [have edited many times on several hours!] find when asked user name made slight punctuation/spacing difference , [not all] of old files used in old account still there...now more confusing [to me] how reconstruct things...but maybe not....don't know. appreciate help. i'm missing using ubuntu...!!!!!!

well, i've made little progress in getting driver ati video partly working [got 3 screens one, ccc won't change color except on 1 - minor compared other problems!.....but still don't know how move things copy [and , cause problems]. printer still doesn't work. strangely, system won't let me in correct [sic] password.....i did not change , there 1 account. see fix getting in without 1 , resetting it, i'll try. i sure use here!

hello,   a fellow employee requires adobe acrobat pro installed use, , management me have sorted out. employee uses thin client connect terminal server of administration work.   i require single license adobe acrobat pro used single user.   will there license issues installing adobe acrobat pro on terminal server?   can install adobe acrobat pro on terminal server?   thanks, david hi david,   yes, can install acrobat terminal servers... !   the licensing terminal server considered normal licensing process, means need buy many number of licenses acrobat number of users accessing terminal server (like citrix) access software. eg if 10 users accessing citrix server @ particular time use acrobat software need 10 licenses same. when i try using AE CC 3d camera tracker after the first step it says "Analysis solve failed." help?

im attempting editor , trying edit segment video game (bo2) , im trying have text stick wall in video. every time try using camera tracker spends 5 minutes completing first step , guess succeeds because goes second step says "solving camera" or that, red bar appears saying "analysis solve failed." do? if you're trying use 3d camera tracker on movie froma vieo game not shot real camera, camera tracker unable solve "real" camera matched scene.
