Thread: Upgraded to 12.04 and now grub problems

i use windows bootloader, grub option. before updated, choose choose windows or choose grub, , if chose latter choose grub menu , well. after updated, each option on grub menu gives error message "no such partition." same thing happens if run "ls" command line.

can run boot-repair , lets me ubuntu, overwriting windows mbr. ideas how can fix grub on ubuntu partition without overwriting windows mbr?

here in boot info: http://paste.ubuntu.com/953793/

grub2 not suited used on partition, grub1. it's bigger , doesn't fit on pbr part of needs saved on location. link other location gets broken during updates, upgrades, etc.

it's recommended use grub2 on mbr avoid these issues. can't see special need keep windows bootloader for.
