Thread: Firefox constantly crashing

edit: smiley face next title because clicked button accident. sorry.

i'm running ubuntu 11.10 64 bit on hp pavilion dv7, , problem i'm having firefox keeps crashing. i'll browsing around, , many many times, whenever click new link, firefox instantly crashes once page loads, , "we're sorry, firefox has crashed" dialog pops up. i'd happens once every fifteen web pages load, roughly, although seems more common.

last 2 times happened, copied report dialog. here's first time:

wow, hate sounding impatient , rude, really, there aren't replies yet? know many other people having problem: "firefox ubuntu crashes" has 18 million hits on google--and if start "firefox ubuntu " autofill has "firefox ubuntu crashes" 4th suggestion.

i've done research on topic, , appears dozens of people have posted onto forums same problem me, none of them ever getting solution. @ best there's vague suggestions it's caused flash.

seeing how extremely crippling , apparently common problem, shouldn't community looking one, main problem?

i have been searching time way edit metadata of video file created along de-novo file. specifically, vlc example, displays metadata text when begins playing file. trying access to. seems me, if there way create metadata in first place, there *must* way edit it. how? using either 11.04 or 12.04 kubuntu. nautilus it's nice icon displays of photos , vids. typically use gwenview , gimp photos , vlc , avidemux video. these tools work things, occasionally, there video has wrong or verbose metadata , far have found no way edit stuff. vlc has option purports work in cases, not reliable, looking swiss-army-knife solution can handle multiple formats (avi/wmv/mpg/mp4/etc/etc) in manner exfalso audio files. "ffmpg" command-line tool not work way, may part of app does. there video geek out there in ubu-land has known solution? folks use create these files in first place? thanks, ct use c...
