Thread: 10.10 to 12.04 upgrade & update issues

i tried upgrade 10.10 12.04 , after half hour of downloading got error couldn't download of packages. did research said should install latest 10.10 updates before upgrading, thought did. when tried update 10.10 latest fixes received following error: failed download package files – check internet connection
details:
failed fetch cdrom:[ubuntu 12.04 lts _precise pangolin_ - release i386 (20120423)]/pool/main/d/dkms/dkms_2.2.0.3-1ubuntu3_all.deb file not found
failed fetch cdrom:[ubuntu 12.04 lts _precise pangolin_ - release i386 (20120423)]/pool/main/f/fakeroot/fakeroot_1.18.2-1_i386.deb file not found

internet connection fine, (i'm using post ), timing out on end? imagine servers still pretty busy. otherwise have 12.04 iso burned, recommended upgrade using iso, or format on everything? can click 'upgrade' , somehow point upgrade manager cd instead of downloading it? , noticed 10.04 32bit , pc 64. upgrading 12.04 64 bit version cause more problems worth?

always, can offer appreciated , in advance !

10.10 eol.

better installing 12.04 alongside , tweaking 12.04 how want , dragging on important stuff. 10.10 first though.
