ok im total newbie w/ linux & installed ubuntu on windows xp machine feet wet os; intent further skills in new arena of can move towards android kernal programming...

have installed ver 12.x on machine interface except complicated command line gibberish found in "guide":

part figured out how edit files using terminal, newbie have been nice if in "guide" mentioned editing files way...

point of "ubuntu internet gateway method (iptables)" gateway setup & example code makes no sense , doesnt work @ & im getting crash reports dont know have anymore now....

here setup & im sure many others common setup seems complicated simple "disabled" settings area in gui portion of "network settings" panel...

after trying follow above links "guide" seems me if when "share connection" selected in ipv4 tab of network card shared if there in gui input ip, sub-net, & gateway info there none of other confusing command line giberish needed... shaded out & not accessible...

have 2 nics 1 wifi works fine & internet connection isp router other onboard wired nic feed second router...

need wired/onboard nic (eth0) "shared" & have following settings:
ip 192.168.0.1
subnet 255.255.255.0
gateway 92.168.10.x

understanding "guide" has set/done terminal command line, guides references dont work or set "eth0" anything; im total newbie linux no rookie world...

clarification "gateway" setup instructions "guide" helps tons..! id willing rewrite newbies trying setup "ics" whom have no prior linux/ubuntu experience...

hi, relatively new linux (have used many live disks) , have had install of ubuntu 12.04 few days now. part have found easy use , have been comfortable it. have first question can't resolve myself: adding googles repository list. when first ran command supplied google found did not have wget installed. used apt-get install it. worked fine (as far can tell) re-ran googles code : wget -q https://dl-ssl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub -o- | sudo apt-key add -deb http://dl.google.com/linux/deb/ stable non-free , message 'gpg: conflicting commands' tell me going wrong , how fix please new script : wget -q https://dl-ssl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub -o- | sudo apt-key add linux_signing_key.pub need edit /etc/apt/sources.list , add line @ end deb http://dl.google.com/linux/deb/ stable non-free end hope find usefull edit: need root or use sudo make changes /etc/apt/sour...
