Thread: I cannot execute shell scripts from NTFS directories

i have upgraded ubuntu 10 12. have lost ability run bash script on ntfs usb memory stick, thunar , nautilus file managers. thunar "help" link indicates "application/x-desktop, application/x-executable , application/x-shellscript" can executed not tell me find more information on this.

not have issue on unix filesystem.

nautilus note: properties->permissions has "allow executing file program" check box reverts unchecked immediately.

thanks,
harald

ps. unix know. desktop, not much!

ntfs not support linux permissions.

permissions @ set @ mount , if remember right, not include execute permission.

put shell script on linux partition , run there.
