Thread: USB 3.0 speed incorrectly reported - or is it?
just playing around new usb 3.0 flash drive , noticed odd.
take @ screenshot - speed in disk utility reported "705 mb/s". that's odd number. usb 3.0 rated 5 gb/s although of course no device going there right now.
what's more odd drive benchmarked @ exactly 705 mb/s. take @ second attachment. 705 mb/s = 88.125 mb/s...my drive eerily close.
what's going on here? did 705 mb/s come from? somehow know how fast drive be?couldn't possibly limiting speed, it? on 1 hand should report 5 gb/s , on other hand odd "705 mb/s" more realistic, yet seems number chosen @ random.
just attached seagate expansion 500gb usb 3.0 drive , see same 705 mbps reported theoretical ( believe benchmark data actual). usb 2.0 devices reports 480 mbps correct theoretical. not sure whats going on, maybe motherboard on dell vostro v131.
