HELP - Illustrator changed all fills to white with black stroke, even text

i hope can shine light on misery - lost entire day's work strange illustrator problem came out of nowhere;

i continued working on illustrator doc done, discover filled white , black stroke - text! thought had hit outline mode accident - turns out didn't! it's in preview mode , seems should. except nothing is! fills messed up, fonts don't seem function looks akwardly bold , messed up. imported jpegs thing should. take me hours recreate - can have @ "before" , "after" images below , tell me if have idea how fix this??

 

i'm working in illustrator cs5 @ work , cs6 @ home, broke down on cs6 version. save documents in cs5 version they'll compatible @ work , @ home. far never had issues around this.

 

please - have done wrong???

this might caused different versions. sue downsaved every time?

 

also: areyou sure didn't open pdf instead of ai part of file time in process?
