Thread: New installation of 12.04 Issues

any problem appreciated.

system specs:

acer 1410
cpu: intel core 2 solo su3500
video: intel gma 4500mhd
ram: 4gb

issue:

apologize if i'm vague or unclear @ point. new ubuntu , have played around couple of times.

wiped computer , did clean install of ubuntu 12.04. no issues during install , format ran without hitch. ejected cd , rebooted computer. upon reboot, taken grub menu select boot ubuntu or recovery mode. attempting normal boot bring either blank screen no error message or black screen flashing cursor.

attempting boot recovery mode brings host of messages; last 1 being '[33.362505] ata1: eh complete' system hangs there. have attempted clean install of ubuntu multiple times , have confirmed live cd works no problems.

have seen few forums it's said nvidia drivers may play part in issue have not seen definite fixes do. thing haven't tried far complete wipe of drive dban , attempting install. let me know if need provide additional information , thank issue.

the black screen flashing cursor normal. stay while , go black. ubuntu 12.04 can take time boot. give few minutes , see if flashing cursor remains.

hi, relatively new linux (have used many live disks) , have had install of ubuntu 12.04 few days now. part have found easy use , have been comfortable it. have first question can't resolve myself: adding googles repository list. when first ran command supplied google found did not have wget installed. used apt-get install it. worked fine (as far can tell) re-ran googles code : wget -q https://dl-ssl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub -o- | sudo apt-key add -deb http://dl.google.com/linux/deb/ stable non-free , message 'gpg: conflicting commands' tell me going wrong , how fix please new script : wget -q https://dl-ssl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub -o- | sudo apt-key add linux_signing_key.pub need edit /etc/apt/sources.list , add line @ end deb http://dl.google.com/linux/deb/ stable non-free end hope find usefull edit: need root or use sudo make changes /etc/apt/sour...
