Thread: Share access for mounted NTFS HDD
i'm running main desktop pc on ubuntu 12.04 , have 3 x windows 7 laptops , 1 x mac running on network (combination of wired , wireless).
want share 2 2tb ntfs hdd (containing movies, tv shows, musci, etc.) - bit idea of windows 7 homegroup sharing.
@ stage i've got 1 of laptops able connect , access (read+write) files on these 2 hdd. laptop using same username i'm logged on ubuntu (pantau) , doesn't seem matter windows password different between systems, long enter 1 being used in samba.
other 3 pc's (using different usernames - mel, kel , (mac uid???)) able see desktop pc (mediapc) , drill through 2 shared hdd, unable access further.
@ stage i've been mounting hdd once logged in uid 'pantau'. feeling need make hdd mount part of startup script (?) prior pc logging in , in same instance, allow users access them.
@ stage, security not huge problem me.
lastly, possible me re-format these drives, have backups, if alternative fs formats advisable, let me know.
cheers.
created new user account on 1 of laptops wasn't letting me in - uid = 'pantau' same working laptop - , it's allowed me access hdd. allows me access hdds while logged in original users - have specify uid - pantau - details when connect desktop pc.
