Thread: XOpenDisplay(NULL) fails when program run in boot sequence via rc.local

i have written program runs root permission in terminal following login fails when xopendisplay(null) call made following reboot. program started via rc.local doesn't appear able see x11.

i need root because make libusb calls , these fail if not root. can see program running root permission inspection of environment variables shows display not set. have delay loop running , checks made after user login , user can see display set in environment variables program cannot. if program terminated , run in terminal works problem program cannot interact x11 when started , state persists.

i want program , running without user login.

can let me know need do?
