About Enterprise signed apps distribution options

dear all,

my company go through dps enterprise , many questions comes me private distribution options we'll have , way implement them.

everybody understood capacity share multifolios apps through mdm tools , use entitlement server make restricted distribution of folios employees.

but in marketing team dreaming (legal) way distribute multifolios applications customers and/or partners in corporate way meaning not appstore. (that able folios pushed business here)

after reading lot seems apple policies regarding b2b distribution changed lot since 2012.

could adobe (or not) more specific option share customers not legaly members of corporation/company.

the more read more seems blury every day.

apple makes rules when comes distribution of apps. apple offers 2 flavors of ios developer program support view of how apps should distributed: ios developer app store apps, , ios developer enterprise program apps distributed within enterprise. "within enterprise" mean, though? apple has language in ios program enterprise agreement defines "employee," , not @ liberty quote. paraphrasing, though, says "employees" folks employ directly or contractors, or employees of mobile device management (mdm) company. you'll notice "customer" excluded.

 

there program known volume purchase program (which reference above), has subprogram business business (b2b) applications. according help documentation, "b2b apps aren’t listed on app store—they must purchased using volume purchase program website , installed using redemption urls." limitation here b2b program allow vendor (not enterprise) offer applications enterprise, reverse of want. how, then, restrict content specific user or group can view in public facing app, way apple let publish app enterprise customers?

 

the answer restricted distribution, available dps enterprise customers. restricted distribution extension of direct entitlement lets enterprise target specific content specific individual or group in dps app. app can publicly (app store) or privately (mdm or enterprise internal web site) distributed , offer login access content. common enterprise use restricted distribution send proposals clients, instance. enterprise makes folio , publishes normal. within restricted distribution portal (assuming make portal manage correlation between users , content), match new content specific users or groups. when 1 of users or member of 1 of groups logged in dps app, library update include new content. others not see new content, because distribution of content restricted specific set of users , groups .
