Thread: Overheating

to first things first!
not reply , tell me have dust inside laptop shall clean it.
not reply , tell me hardware issues because not.

since autumnn last year laptop overheating , since nobody has found solution might try here once more.

reason why laptop overheating simple:
linux(ubuntu, lubuntu, linux mint, fedora)distributions have installed same thing , shut fan down @ 70°c instead of 48°c.
possible reason thermal.h procedure beacuse values laptop uses lowest fan speed , emergency shut-down defined hwmon , used thermal.h

maverick had time fan worked supposed , made mistake upgrade 11.04.
since had no backup kernel downloaded version of maverick , despite efforts find right kernel still use overheating laptop.
(i baught because sold linux laptop)

ever linux put on laptop shut off fan @ 70°c.

research can not bios problem because bios provides trip points , leaves other control os.
not trouble caused settings inside bios or hardware related sorrow.
remind, worked fine until last autumn.

can ubuntu 10.10, 11.04(i386), lubuntu 11.10amd64,12.04amd64; fedora 16amd64; linux mint (gnu amd64)
, several other maverick kernels gave try same on laptop , shut down fan @ 70°c.

appreciate solution or place find old maverick kernel without patches might use.

fan trip points used of above mentioned distributions are
70°c lowest fan speed
75°c increaseing fan speed
84°c give little more
95°c shut whole thing down

trip ponts should used 48, 57, 69, 75, 84, 92 , ahut down @ 100°c
cpu throttle values (hwmon) 70°c , 95°c

has suggestion or better clue how alter kernel fan work @ correct trip points.

have 15 days left solution because after hot use laptop @ (at least linux).

best regards m.peters
