Thread: 12.04 upgrade, now cannot connect to Internet

i not know certainty problem related upgrade; other possibility mobo's realtek ethernet hardware has gone bad.

ethernet connection worked fine few days after upgrade 11.10, i've read elsewhere of other users experiencing wonky wireless problems took time kick in after upgrade, , there no changes hardware coincident loss of ethernet communication.

have manually installed current driver realtek , ensured not competing incorrect realtek driver (apparently common explanation problem i've encountered).

'lspci -nn', among other things, returned:
code:
05:00.0 ethernet controller [0200]: realtek semiconductor co., ltd. rtl8111/8168b pci express gigabit ethernet controller [10ec:8168] (rev 03)
'sudo nm-tool' resulted in:
code:
sudo: nm-tool: command not found
'lsmod | grep r8' returned:
code:
r8168 215626 0
is network manager borked? if so, how fix without internet connection?

if there thread out there should reading instead of pestering fine people, i'd grateful reference. i've been able find far has not helped, though did provide me commands used above. sorry if typing bit off; i'm borrowing wife's computer , hates when switch keyboard qwerty dvorak, it's hunt , peck me.....

fwiw, i'm running 64-bit precise pangolin on computer. tried using 12.04 install usb restore ethernet function reinstalling everything, not establish internet connectivity during install, aborted install.

help? thanks!

please show
cat /etc/network/interfaces
cat /etc/resolv.conf
ifconfig -a
