Thread: First laptop install

i have tried on number of occasions install different versions of ubuntu, lubuntu etc on sony vaio vpcx11s1e. every time install have graphics issues. common 1 across distros desktop covers 70% of screen(left right) right hand side has black area , multi-coloured noise area. have check resolution , have 1 option available.

i'm every new ubuntu , appriecate guidance on how working correctly.

graphics card intel gma 500. i'm running latest lubuntu.
