Thread: nvclock/smartdimmer segfault on new nvidia drivers

i have used nvidia proprietary drivers (downloaded nvidia.com, not ones packaged ubuntu) on sony vaio z-series notebook ubuntu 11.10 while , worked fine. after recent upgrade 290.10 295.40 (also tried latest beta 302.07) display brightness not change. else works, brightness control.

hardware buttons work expected (i can see notification of events) - nvclock , smartdimmer problem. return segmentation fault on action:

code:
$ nvclock -i segmentation fault $ smartdimmer -g segmentation fault
i can downgrade 290.10 , works fine again.

ideas how fix this?

someone opened bug report 2 weeks ago on debian tracker, 1 week ago i've provided information should necessary fix nobody seems have cared since

hope situation improve since, maybe can vote in issue try have checked.
