yes, need install compatible app. 

look @ bluefire , aldiko general use (including library books) , overdrive app library books.

there apps of major booksellers.

for drm books need make sure register same adobeid use on pc.

(for non drm books, don't bother ade on pc, use superior free calibre instead, or download direct device.)

 

you need copy books using file manager, not ade.
