Thread: Dual boot Win7 problems with grub

hi -

i'm trying install 12.04 ubuntu on 12.04 kubuntu (don't ask - missed simplicity of ubuntu) on win7 dual boot using liveusb.

first tried automated "install on existing ubuntu" option, got "grub rescue >" prompt on boot after install. tried re-installing using "something else", , found had tried put grub on /dev/sdb, usb. so, tried puttung grub on /dev/sda, , "/" on /dev/sda5 (sda1 win7 recovery, sda2 win7, sda3 swap, , sda4 not there reason).

reboot: same problem.

need fix win7 mbr, re-partition , re-install? or there way? doing stupid during ubuntu install?

many times in advance.!

you should installing sda, if sda hard drive. bios promote flash drive sda , confuse things.

can post boot-info link , can suggest best way repair. can add existing ubuntu installer usb or cd or download bootable repaircd.

boot repair:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/boot-repair
can repair many boot issues or 'create bootinfo' report & post link creates, can see exact configuration.
