Thread: How well does Ubuntu operate with LABEL mounting?

i'm looking @ switching things on using uuid= selecting drives mount in /etc/fstab, label= instead. reason doing because handling uuids awkward in automated scripts. labels easier because can generate right information, rather have keep track of information. considering generating same uuid on each machine, has potential cause problems, such when taking drive 1 machine recover files if other 1 dies. use labels hostname , mount point (e.g. "foobar-usr"). generate /etc/fstab (again) uses labels instead of uuids.

question i'm asking if has experience using label= instead of uuid= reference drives mounted in ubuntu , can relate how ubuntu deals it.

not sure labels use /dev/sdax rather uuid, not sure helps.
