Thread: Stripping down ubuntu for robot

hi all,

have embedded linux running on pandaboard (google it). use camera- based tracking. sends processed information robot controller.

right now, controller boots in 20 seconds, , ready start working. pandaboard requires me log in , open main tracking program. boots bit slower controller.

want do:
-get rid of x server (no monitor plugged in anyways)
-get rid of unity
-have go right terminal if happen plug monitor in
-log in automatically
-launch tracking program , launch cloud9 ide on startup

getting rid of graphics things, hope drastically increase boot time (its @ 25 seconds right now).

can set auto-login , programs start themselves, unsure effect absence of x.org , unity have. also, can rid of login manager altogether?
