Thread: Ubuntu 11.10 help please.

i installed ubuntu 11.10 cd. worked fine. upgrades got installed automatically , utube videos not viewable. reinstalled 11.10. set upgrades not upgrade automatically. today got notice have partial upgrades. notice post sudo in terminal. try view video on comcast.net. notice need upgrade latest flash drive. clicked on , opened archive manager. restarted firefox. still notice upgrade flash drive. can't find terminal. can't find synapse manager.

oh where, oh the terminal , synapse manager?

why upgrades making impossible view videos on utube , comcast?

ubuntu has never shipped flash player plugin, has never been able view youtube videos out-of-the-box.

have install flashplugin-nonfree package, , restart browser, , you'll able play videos.

answer other question, synaptic package manager has not come ubuntu year now. ubuntu software center replaces in default install, can still use software center or apt-get install synaptic. or click ubuntu logo , type "synaptic" , appear first result - when click it, software center open , allow install synaptic.

terminal available dash (click ubuntu icon, type terminal , pop first result). or press control-alt-t @ time bring terminal.

finally, you're on 11.10 should change profile on ubuntu forums reflect that.

hi, relatively new linux (have used many live disks) , have had install of ubuntu 12.04 few days now. part have found easy use , have been comfortable it. have first question can't resolve myself: adding googles repository list. when first ran command supplied google found did not have wget installed. used apt-get install it. worked fine (as far can tell) re-ran googles code : wget -q https://dl-ssl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub -o- | sudo apt-key add -deb http://dl.google.com/linux/deb/ stable non-free , message 'gpg: conflicting commands' tell me going wrong , how fix please new script : wget -q https://dl-ssl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub -o- | sudo apt-key add linux_signing_key.pub need edit /etc/apt/sources.list , add line @ end deb http://dl.google.com/linux/deb/ stable non-free end hope find usefull edit: need root or use sudo make changes /etc/apt/sour...
