Thread: Vmware workstation 8 on Ubuntu 12.04
hi all,
have ubuntu desktop version 11.10. have installed vmware-workstation 8.0.2 long time in it. after vwmare installed, got message kernel needs updated. have googled , found solution. dont remember steps, apt-get install kernel-headers, apt-get install kernel-dlevel, this.. 2 days back, when have tried update software, got notification there update. have updated successfully. ubuntu version ubuntu 12.04 lts. time upgraded, not able open vmware. when open vmware, gives me message, "before can run vmware, several modules must compiled , loaded running kernel". prompt install or cancel. if click install, says stopping vmware services, , after few mins, says unable start services. have googled same message no use. each , every command(like sudo apt-get install linux-headers etc..) says upto date. please suggest me now.

this known issue. vmware 8.0.2 not compatible 3.2.x kernel in 12.04lts. work, have patch of vmware components.
follow directions in third message (the message mfelker) @ link below. first need uninstall vmware workstation 8.0.2. reinstall , before run first time, patch it. procedure fixes issues me.
