Thread: Internet/Wireless Confusion


i understand following confused..

understand there 150mbps, 300mbps, , 600mbps speeds in wireless cards. mbps stands mega bit per second.

router states "5.0ghz wireless frequency fast data transfer" , im not sure how translate ghz mbps(or if talking same type of speed). router advertisting gigabit.. assuming 1000mbps?

computers/internet connection got 19.51mbps on speedtest.net. when torrent files, download @ 2.3 mb/s (on average)

anyways, have no idea these numbers come place. how can extreme , disorganized? can please explain me why on place , each 1 means? -thanks

you can speeds 300mbps wireless-n; however, wireless-g typically 54mbps.

wireless routes use 2 radio signal frequencies transmission of data. 1 2.4ghz , other 5ghz. radio signal frequency not same bits per second data rate. 5ghz radio signal frequency allow more signal bandwidth supports higher mbps data rates. if want data rates above 100mbps should use 5ghz wireless-n option.

19.5 mbps divided 8 mb/s (8 bits in byte). 19.5 mbps / 8 bits = 2.4 mb/s (mega bytes per second)
