Thread: Screen unreadable after login

after upgrading 12.04 system boots login screen fine, , in fact, both of sons' accounts (one administrator, 1 regular user) seem work fine. when log in account, unreadable screen: system tries display desktop looks kind of old tv vertical hold , horizontal hold messed up. lots of flashing , scrolling , unreadable images.

if ctrl-alt-f1 login screen can log in account, i'm not sure there. don't understand why both of sons experiencing no issues @ on accounts on same machine.

suggestions (or pointers similar already-resolved-issues) appreciated.

i guessing really.

3 of logging in same desktop. such ubuntu (unity 3d) or ubuntu 2d?

video card have? using proprietary video driver or open source one.

perhaps sons logging in ubuntu 2d , logging in ubuntu. might reason difference.

perhaps 1 of sons run additional drivers , find out if proprietary driver activated.

regards.
