Thread: Catastropic Failure - 12.04 -Home Dir lost


clean install 12.04, gnome3 shell, cairo dock. have backup disk mounted /home/backup contains copy of /home. inserted thumb drive , deleted files showed in cairo trash. middle clicked on cairo trash , deleted files. after 2 minutes nothing happened ejected drive , rebooted. upon reboot, entire /home/me directory gone , backup on attached drive!!! nautilus shows home folder 456k files. gparted shows 6gb used. same backup.

help, don't know how recover lost directories , files

do have trash bin on flash drive? files located there? wondering trash can clicked empty....the flash drive or computer's.
