How do I create a cut-path ONLY on the outer edge of my vector image?

okay, have dilemma. 1 of things simple when explained, @ moment in time has me scratching head.

illustrator cut paths.jpg

here have vector image. pink stroke cut path software use @ work recognises , cuts. (used vinyl decals/stickers etc). lines highlighted in pink useless me, cut out each individual line.

all need outer edge of entire graphic.

illustrator cut paths2.jpg

note crudely drawn red lines border image, need. can see, paths run through image. but...when try erase paths using add anchor point then cut path @ selected anchor points so can remove particular segment, colour "leaks" isn't closed area anymore. rasterizing image destroys quality , able perform task without loss of quality.

if help, i'd eternally grateful!

thanks,

ben

ben,

as far can see there 3 sets of pink strokes, , guess wish use outermost 1 , have form 1 continuous path round , in hole between letters.

presuming have other strokes under control, may able copy top of stacking order , then, copies selected, pathfinder>unite compound path pink stroke , no fill, may split 1 path outside , 1 path hole if needed.
