Thread: Partitioning difficulties


hello. planning double-boot ubuntu windows xp, , evantually, if enough, remove windows entirely , use wine critical points of current windows setup.
now, i'm struggling through install process. typing through trial os loaded on ubuntu disk. know work computer, i'm having trouble partitioning properly.
simple issue isn't allowing me allocate free space separate partition.
attempting use gparter partition free space windows. first attempt @ doing this, may missing step.

thank time.

it helpful if can see how hard drive setup right advise on how proceed.

1 thing shrink down windows , add linux partitions after windows. need @ least 1 partition linux , should have partition swap space.

problem windows have first partition. ok. linux picky.

want see first layout. if could, download bootinfoscript. run super user livecd. dump file called results.txt. bring here can see how partitioned , size of hard drive.

see blue link below location of bootinfoscript. go here brief example on how run it. note name has changed bootinfoscript , not boot_info_script.sh.
