Thread: Ubuntu is not booting after Hdd migration

hi,

decided wanted migrate lucid lynx ubuntu installation external 80gb hdd onto internal 120gb hdd. didn't use ghost or that, created backup.tgz of file system (excluding proc, lost+found, backup.tgz, media, , sys) , restored backup on fresh install of lucid lynx on internal 120gb; however, after rebooted following error when try boot ubuntu grub:

can still boot windows 7 (which installed on different hdd) via grub, can't ubuntu. i'll try running boot info script , posting results here. maybe help.

just use livecd run update-grub
partition layout changed when moved grub isn't updated yet incorperate changes. so, grub looks partition *used* there, isn't anymore (well, not under id grub expects be).

if doesn't work,
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/gr...rom_the_livecd
information reinstalling grub. fix may cause lose mods boot options.
