Thread: Server or Desktop?

hi
i'd advice....
i'm building new pc (mini atx, 2g ram , celeron d), , should ready weekend.
main use dev box can try new code, run joomla, ror (which i'm learning), php, mysql, , other web dev. in addition i'd try , run web content , use dnla server ps3. great if have print server , directory server can put backup tools on there rest of networked pcs (we have alot - macbook, vista laptop, win7 laptop, 2 x win7 pcs).

hope run box without vdu , remote it. way can tuck away in corner.

lastly, have desktop easy software install , maybe dev work, isn't important on macbook , anyhow, i've bitten bullet , got grips vi command line fine.

so... should install 12.04 server desktop, or 12.04 desktop , enable server type features (lamp, ssh, ftp, vpn) etc?

@ moment i'm thinking of server desktop enabled.

reading. advice great.

i'd go server add desktop because server editions have longer support life.
