Thread: Warning for nVidia GeForce 6, 7, and 8800 cards with 12.04 Precise

nvidia has posted warning on linux forum here serious issue geforce 6, 7, , 8800 gts/gtx cards, k/ubuntu 12.04, , latest 295.40 driver. 295.40 driver default installation in ubuntu 12.04 write this.

until fix released, can run precise in ubuntu 2d mode is, uninstall 295.40 driver , install 295.33 driver can downloaded here. sure follow instructions in readme located in 295.33 download directory.

i'm running precise in 3d mode 295.33 driver, getting ~8000 fps on 8800 gts card. troubleshot 12.04 7 hours before discovering nvidia driver issue. nvidia actively working fix.

may want make post sticky until fix released , incorporated 12.04.

i had believe problem having run nvidia in 2d latest updates allowed me install nvidia current , @ least me.
