Thread: GRUB and dual installation
my setup @ moment ssd drive has windows on , 1tb sata iii drive holds docs/pics/music etc still has plenty of room on it.
have 2 options
.... install on ssd along windows ssd 240gb hesitant
..... install on sata iii drive, partition drive 2 500gb partitions , use 1 ubuntu
questions :
size foot print 12.04 make on ssd ? can still have home folder installed on different hard drive ( in case still partition sata iii drive 2 )? windows.....have o/s on 1 drive , data on ?
12.04 take advantage of ssd drive or 6gbs hard drive ?
suggestions above welcomed?
grub, getting info before start. whatever option select want edit grub windows default bootable drive. how edit grub ? there nice easy program?
the default desktop install takes around 4.5gb. recommended size root partition 15-25gb, more if need install many , large programs.
yes, can have /home separate partition on same or disk. install separate /home need use manual install method (something else).
ubuntu should make use of ssd speed, more windows because in general works better resources.
grub2, there gui tools, it's easy control default os in grub2 config files. after all, how change default os? don't see reason start adding applications use once or twice...
