need to remove "phantom text"

i using id cs5 on computer running windows 7 professional

 

my book done!  i'm cleaning items sitting on sidelines aren't (and don't belong) on pages ready printer.

 

one bit of text quite close bleed line, , can't find way select , delete it.  file has 2 layers, , both unlocked; i've selected each layer , clicked on text cannot grab it.  went master pages, not there (if was, show on every page, , on 1 page).  held down ctrl-shift , clicked on text, box still won't highlight.  (i can select page numbers on master pages way, it's not working on bit of text.)

 

i don't think have ever used notes tool, clicked on see if might enable selecting text box, no dice: cursor turns slashed circle, can't use it.  (it nice know how, that's subject.....)

 

short of covering text white box, how rid of text?  concerned when .pdf file made printer, because reduces , text's presence might make shrink more.

 

i hope has experienced before!  in advance help.

first, if isn't inside bleed won't in pdf unless include slug , it's inside that.

 

second, object locked? default preference cs5 forward not allow selection of locked objects (first thing change).

 

is included when select all?
