Thread: Software Search Help

hey all:

well, wife's laptop died, , win xp on way out, put on ubuntu 12.04 on desktop. uses internet browsing, , occasional "word" document or "excel" spreadsheet, know, libreoffice fine.

i'm looking more @ moving laptop ubuntu also. before that, have line software specific requirements. here first one.

on pc, have ultraedit (costs $$), has real scripting engine. way use scripts use create templates create posts on several on-line boards.

need free linux text editor (see note 1) has scripting abilitities of ultraedit. compatible javascript, plus seems have more. also, text editor must able save in dos format (crlf), , automatically add ".txt" extension. know gedit good, i've experimented it, must *** ".txt" extension each time, , explicitedly save dos (crlf) format (select save menu).

also, i'm wondering if linux has drag-and-drop c++ programming ide. mean instance create form, drop edit field, combobox, etc on it. after controls dropped on form, write code whatever behing scenes.

in advance.

notes:

1. know libreoffice has scripting engine, want relatively simple, text editor can use, without messing libreoffice.
