Thread: Print processing very slow with 12.04

i belatedly upgraded desktop 11.10 , afterwards 12.04. when send print job usb-connected brother hl-5250dn , brief ubuntu test page using cups, takes great deal of time printed. printer flashes light indicating getting data, it's if data being generated indeed. system monitor shows little cpu use.

missing obvious? before these upgrades, few (presumably complex) print jobs took long.

i having usb printing problems since upgrading 12.04. 11.10 printing working both hp laserjet 1320n , canon ip4000.

after upgrade, have tried print test page remote client , tried print web page locally. printer acted sending data printer, leaving printer running overnight (6+ hours), document never printed on ip4000, connected via usb.

after cancelling print job, printer continued appear actively printing something, had unplug power before stopped.

hi, relatively new linux (have used many live disks) , have had install of ubuntu 12.04 few days now. part have found easy use , have been comfortable it. have first question can't resolve myself: adding googles repository list. when first ran command supplied google found did not have wget installed. used apt-get install it. worked fine (as far can tell) re-ran googles code : wget -q https://dl-ssl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub -o- | sudo apt-key add -deb http://dl.google.com/linux/deb/ stable non-free , message 'gpg: conflicting commands' tell me going wrong , how fix please new script : wget -q https://dl-ssl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub -o- | sudo apt-key add linux_signing_key.pub need edit /etc/apt/sources.list , add line @ end deb http://dl.google.com/linux/deb/ stable non-free end hope find usefull edit: need root or use sudo make changes /etc/apt/sour...
