How to exclude font outline from a gradient background

here have. background shape gradient. type on top of shape. chiller font. need punch hole background in shape of font. created outline font. ungrouped outlines. go pathfinder , select exclude. gradient red black black only. excluded font, (punched hole) ruined gradient because gradient no longer exist. black.

 

so.... if knows going on, please help.

 

p.s. reason need exclude font because not print well. i'm using cmyk doc color mode. white font , reddish background font located kind of blend making font kind of hard read. figured punching hole in shape of fonts solve problem. hope makes sense.

you can use live type, select both, , in transparency flyout make opacity mask clip , inverse mask unticked. there no need outline type, can use opacity mask that, too.

 

you may gradient pathfinder>minus front, find becomes funny in counters (the holes in letters).

when i try using AE CC 3d camera tracker after the first step it says "Analysis solve failed." help?

im attempting editor , trying edit segment video game (bo2) , im trying have text stick wall in video. every time try using camera tracker spends 5 minutes completing first step , guess succeeds because goes second step says "solving camera" or that, red bar appears saying "analysis solve failed." do? if you're trying use 3d camera tracker on movie froma vieo game not shot real camera, camera tracker unable solve "real" camera matched scene.
