can not use reader

have removed , reinstalled reader hundred times.  still downloads pdf file not open it.  reader closes internet explorer , freezes window.  have tried system restore going 3 months no success.  great!

if download pdf local disk first, open there, work?  if not, things try...

  • using windows explorer navigate c:\program files (x86)\adobe\reader 11.0\reader, double-click on eula.exe , accept license agreement
  • can open adobe reader itself?  if so, try disabling protected mode [edit | preferences | security (enhanced)].
  • if cannot open reader itself, try disable protected mode in registry; download, unzip, run attached registry script
  • it malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html
