FujiFilm X-E1 RAW displaying different colours
hi,
first of all, i'm happy new version of lightroom handles fujifilm x-e1 raw (raf) files fast , efficiently.
but have feeling colours aren't quite right. x-e1, , brothers, known incredible colour reproduction , wide dynamic range in compact format. when shooting native jpeg's with, or without shadow compensation settings in camera, resulting jpeg files has clear fujifilm identity. colours , luma , way shadows highlights. when loading raw (raf) file lightroom (v4.4) colours, still untouched, aren't @ same, , not luma either. shadows harsher, skin tones , colours tiny bit off. overall urge study in detail , give optional camera calibration profile or something, give fujifilm justice here.
does make sense you, or being picky here?
without seeing you’re seeing, it’s hard if you’re being picky or if variances see within expected between 2 different raw converters.
adobe doesn’t attempt replicate particular camera’s treatment of raw data seen in camera jpgs default toning or adobe standard profile.
you see different toning between adobe’s factory default settings , camera does, if trying optimize things. you’re in charge of toning lr you’ll want each photo care about. can click auto tone , guess better default, guesses wrong, camera metering might underexpose shot if sun in , lr doesn’t have benefit of knowing focus point active guess @ subject make sure exposed reasonably.
likewise, colors, adobe doesn’t know camera has camera-profile when interprets raw data, adobe provides standard color profile, based on own methodology.
for many canon , nikon dslr cameras, adobe has provided camera-match color profiles make attempt emulate camera-manufacturer settings, these approximate. use camera standard if that.
you can x-rite color-checker , use adobe’s dng profile editor create own camera profiles(s) specific lighting situations or dual-illuminant general-purpose profile of adobe’s profiles are. creating such profile isn’t going emulate camera does, either, if feel colors off using 1 adobe standard profile, custom profiles can better match lighting situations.
i carry x-rite color checker passport , take calibration shot whenever i'm in non-standard lighting situation, espeically fluorescent or arena lighting, in case profiles have aren't quite right, , need create new one.
