Thread: Problem mounting the encrypted /home folder using a Live CD
hey all,
installed gnome 3 , gnome-session-fallback on ubuntu 11.10 (using guide: http://debianhelp [dot] wordpress [dot] com/2011/10/07/how-to-install-gnome-3-desktop-environment-in-ubuntu-11-10/) , after rebooting, gnome 3 quit working. while used gnome 2 (i hold total disdain unity). few days ago, decided remove gnome 3 , fallback, planning on reinstalling when downgraded 10.04. problem is, after rebooting laptop, ubuntu won't boot up. hits black screen bunch of lines pertaining checking battery stats, etcetera (i'm sure have seen screen @ 1 time or another, it's kind of shutdown screen). won't make past stage. problem is, have family pictures , bit of work on old encrypted partition need up. ecryptfs-mount-private s**t me , of posts across internet have read me in no way. related question accepted, dig deep guys! can downgrade lucid lynx while still retaining /home folder. if so, please tell me so!

edit: post made on live boot. , need through live boot.
