have nvidia gforce 520 in 12.04 system. originally, had dvi cable viewsonic hdmi converted -- monitor supports hdmi. today, replaced dvi hdmi cable , grub menu low resolution ubuntu loading graphic. once gets login fine. no big thing know why , if there easy fix? running 1920 x 1080. the issue scaling/hardware. explanation: monitor, or gpu (like mine) scale size of bios screen or preliminary boot screens until gets os. run windows , experience "issue" bios screen time. when boot system bios screen ways under scaled on dell monitor. hardware "issue" don't have control over. , varies monitor monitor. example have had 2 dell monitors crt ran vga , lcd runs without adapters dvi , vga. mine came hdmi adapter , since prefer hdmi or dvi on vga used hdmi adapter , spare hdmi cable had , ran it. experienced issue , hdmi. i had been using cups-pdf fine, got in habit of exporting things pdf instead of printing them. 1 day (and couple upgrades later) tried print pdf , error cups-pdf didn't exist. re-installed cups-pdf, didn't help. deleted pdf printer system settings , added in. can print test pages , go /home/pdf directory should. when printing within application, however, chugs along should, document not in folder. tried search , new pdfs don't exist. upgraded system couple days ago. running latest ubuntu studio. ideas? i posting in thread although cups-pdf has generated many other discussions elsewhere. various suggestions have been made respect file permissions, selinux, apparmor, etc. case, tried several until finding "the main thing". i'm tired retrace steps , see if of other suggestions needed, problem found show-stopper. distributed, /etc/cups/cups-pdf.conf allows path gs default /usr/bin/gs , not c...
