i have page i'm designing target width of 1024px.  have ornate sidebar on both sides can accomodate 1600px.  browsers of 1024 or lower use middle section of 1024px , browsers higher resolutions still keep centered, fill in space sidebar images 1600px.  if browsers beyond that, have solid color fill.   is possible?   thanks! make page background fill 1600 wide background image. in settings have centered no repeat. i updated version of amarok kubuntu backports ppa in order fix bug preventing starting up. in process, upgraded number of other packages. while (at least several months) ago, , unfortunately can't remember packages, or date updated. ever since, unable play pulseaudio output (i.e. amarok, dragon player) through jack (using jack sink module) without audio cuting out. fine. have tried removing backports ppa software sources , reinstalling related packages can think of. have tried switching between jack1 , jack2. still no use. can suggest method of troubleshooting track down might cause , restore previous smooth playback? advice or comments vague appreciated. in advance, rob bumpidy. netbook: acer aspire 1 250g intel atom n455 (1.66ghz, 1gb ddr3) hey everyone! did reinstall of 11.04 due missing grub menu after trying reinstall windows 7. decided install windows xp live usb , deleted few little partitions. ih ad 12 , deleted 3 under 200 mb. so, xp install wasnt working, loaded ubuntu 11.04,updated 11.10, , went well. except in beginngig of boot after selecting ubuntu grub, dialog in purple under ubunbtu stating system waiting recognize sda5. after few minutes, fast, boots great. issues having usb flash drives. ubuntu appears recognize flash drive not pick in home folder. took pictures of devices shown. pc boot fine usb if need , again if might of deleted inhibits me accessing flash drive?? please excuse me lack of knowledge current condition. gratefully appreciate , advice! god bless i apologize if may appear confusing. please let me know if there else can post. ...

i have stumbled onto frustrating problem adobe reader.  running windows 7 professional , have installed adobe reader xi first time (no previous installation of adobe reader on machine).  when try open pdf see brief activity in terms of busy mouse pointer nothing else appears happen , pdf doesn't open, nor reader application appear.  if try start adobe reader application (from associated application shortcut) experience same issue.  when go task manager can see adobe reader process has started (with approx 700k memory allocation) there no adobe reader application running.  if try again start adobe reader multiple processes appear no application starts.   i have tried:   uninstall adobe reader , re-install.  same problem. uninstall adobe reader , install older version (v9).  same problem.   any ideas folks?   brian. go to: c/program files/adobe/reader 11.0/reader (if have 64 bit windows in program files(x86) ) there's file there ca...

excuse me if i'm using wrong terms in question, have dutch version of indesign 6, , not sure of translation in english.   i regularly have following problem. in books, want chapter titles appear automatically in page footer. define text variable on paragraph level, using style chapter titles, , put in page footer. sometimes want text in footer appear in small caps, , in old font real small caps in separate font. (no, don't want spend lot of money replace these fonts because of problem.) page footers make paragraph style in small cap font. the problem is, in fonts these figures can in table style (the old style figures in regular version of font). that's not like.   i thought handle problem defining grep style (all figures getting text style in regular font version), didn't work (and can more or less understand why).   of course there reasonable workarounds (i have used them), have smart idea how solve automatic settings? i'm not sure understand question, maybe wil...

hello, having bit of frustrating problem. i'm working on graphics large project, , have of files indesign illustrator (they both cs5) our printer. i have designed them in illustrator graphics in indesign , found out once started on production needs ai , needs our trim path set our irregular shapes.    for of documents, been pretty easy (exporting pdf > opening in illustrator , making cut path > saving ai) have 1 file making me lose mind. when export pdf, opens , looks normal in acrobat, , check out in preview well. background shows , everything. when open pdf in illustrator loses background. noticed doing before couple graphics, assumed because had gradients drop shadows , transparencies , that. file has nothing weird except gradient grey background.   help? i'm including screenshots of whats happening in hopes guys can solve it.     so here have me saving it, opening in acrobat check stuff out.   now here happens when open in illustrator:   my...
