hi, recently, laptop failed boot windows 7. tried repair using recovery disk, of no use. not able in recovery wizard itself. created ubuntu bootable flash drive , tried repair in ubuntu. surprisingly has failed mount windows os drive, following error message. error mounting: mount exited exit code 13: ntfs_attr_pread_i: ntfs_pread failed: input/output error failed read ntfs $bitmap: input/output error ntfs either inconsistent, or there hardware fault, or it's a softraid/fakeraid hardware. in first case run chkdsk /f on windows reboot windows twice. usage of /f parameter very important! if device softraid/fakeraid first activate , mount different device under /dev/mapper/ directory, (e.g. /dev/mapper/nvidia_eahaabcc1). please see 'dmraid' documentation more detail tried, ntfsfix dev/sda3(which os drive), says drive can mounted , processed successfully. please me in regard! main motive of mine recover data present in...

since upgrading 12.04, plymouth's oscillating "progress bar" doesn't stop after xserver started. causes animated noise near top of screen. when switch text console console hosting x (ie. ctrl-alt-f1) progress bar whole, , still oscillating. if use ` sudo -- pkill -hup -f plymouth ` oscillation stops, image of "progress bar" remains. image vanishes upon switching console. believe plymouth should not show animated "progress bar" once computer finishes booting , ready accept user authentication. believe plymouth should not cause graphical noise in x session. me diagnose , fix plymouth's misbehaviour? alternately, tell me how discard plymouth completely? doing 'sudo aptitude remove plymouth' throws frightening number of warning messages. rather see boot messages init/startup scripts showing me status , error messages. plymouth, if goes wrong, see "...

here's interesting problem i've been having ubuntu 11.10 on laptop. wireless has absolutely no issues connecting public networks hotel wifi , libraries. on wifi networks mcdonalds or starbucks able use internet internet browser automatically redirects specific site unique network wayport access site has user agreement must give agree before being able access internet. i've been 5 different places , computer connecting network it's not redirecting user agreement page when start firefox. it'll state on progress bar "looking www.google.com" homepage. real interesting part used redirect doesn't anymore. what's issue? i have same problem. i have wierd problem has been haunting me for.... 3 or 4 months , it's driving me crazy, bit hard put words. have had same problem last few versions of ubuntu, mint linux , lubuntu. problem times doesn't act few days if lucky , times if restart makes problem go away, there days today there no way make go away amount of time. basicly once open few programs can't click on menu button or task bar or program running , on foreground. take right now, have firefox running , on top can use it, can't click on open new programs , can't use mouse switch program , can't close or minimize firefox using mouse. can on other hand still use keyboard shortcuts. can ctrl+q or alt+f4 close things out. can still alt+tab switch programs. can't use mouse make these things happen. have few different mice , behave same way, not sounds hardware problem. , kicks tryed disabling propritary video card drivers , didn't well. fixed can move on l...

i trying create sequence displays hundreds of images in succession. want images change according speed/mood/beat of music plays @ moment. example, changing next image every time kickdrum heard. talking rapid succession of images, many of them show couple of frames. looking way accomplish fast possible.   this i've come with.   first, i'll listen song , edit preferences in "general" tab, "still image default duration" set number of frames best sync tempo/beat of song. next i'll listen song again in "source" panel , whilst playing i'll set markers using m keyboard shortuct i'll want images change. if necessary, i'll listen again @ half-speed or zooming in lot , fine-tune position of markers until happy. then i'll import song timeline, along of images, of course not in sync markers. i'll use "ripple edit tool" of images, , individually set in , out points of every single image 'snap' markers. finally i...

same problem, windows 7 32-bit. effective today of sudden, creative cloud logs me out every 15-30 minutes or so. when log in, i'm greeted mesage on home tab saying "you updated creative cloud, 1 min" if updated creative cloud minute ago. did not. insanely annoying. every time open pdf, open, seconds later close because (presumably) concludes don't have valid cc membership. go log cc again, open pdf. until half-hour later when same thing happens again. followed directions verify correct permissions suggested elsewhere ( http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-exit-6-exit-7.html); no dice. seriously, unbelievably annoying. adobe, seriously, whiskey tango foxtrot? donotwantascreenname reviewed activation history , not affected difficulties documented in post #6.   it seem software sending deactivation request quite why being prompted sign in.  recommend trying selective start-up , seeing if have same experience.
