i'm reading ubuntu server guide. in first few pages discusses installation, says "a swap partition twice size of available ram capacity may not desirable, on systems large amounts of ram." why this? have 8 gb of ram on machine. difference make if swap 4, 8, 16 gb? with linux can away no swap space if run out of memory system can crash. if running server constant amount of memory usage can safely away 1/2 physical memory. if running things fluctuate in memory usage or services running spawn more processes hadle increased load may want 1 2 times physical memory in swap. thing keep in mind idle processes can swapped out of memory allowing using memory caching io increase filesystem performance. in linux distros kernet 2.6 or later can set value of vm.swappiness 0 100 set how aggressive memory swapped out. think ubuntu defaults 60. tuning parameter depends on done system best you. ...

hello there, using lenove w510 internal speakers & microphone; of time laptop sitting in docking station; , have usb headset connected docking station. ubuntu 11.xx "sound settings" panel did allow me select hardware profile devices. profile be off analog output analog output&input ... typically set laptop internal audio "off". so, few occasions when laptop wasnt docked ... , need sound, go panel, enable internal audio ... listen ... , disable afterwards. 90% of time, laptop switched on in docking station sees enabled headset ... big advantage of that: when laptop docked, there isnt doubt on device use - internal audio off ... picks headset. without me doing anything. 100% want. not want turn audio settings every switch on laptop in docking station. ubuntu 12.04 ... devices show time. selection of profile (that turn off) gone. huge step backwards in eyes. idea on how enable behavior used to?...

hello, upgraded 1 of ubuntu installs 10.10 12.04 upgrading cd bypass step step upgrade. upgrade maintained of data, home folder , installed apps, account didn't roll on , new account created. logged new account , did add user same username , password old account , made admin. can log said account via terminal , home directory's content linked correctly, when try log account login screen, takes password, screen goes black , kicks login screen. ideas? there . files need nuke gnome 3, etc? you correct. update installed user files new user's hidden . files , user have reinstated not have new settings. not sure best salvage, besure have backups. try rsync new user's hidden files & folders old, not sure overwrites. again backup. yesterday, refused download. waited day see if server problem. last night , same issue , again morning. trying add book. had .acsm file extension know drm protected file , ade used download book with. had no problems this  before.   possible reason ...     sometimes ade gets registration/activation confused , in semi-authorized state. uninstalling , reinstalling not help. unfortunately, gives misleading error messages wrong. a common incorrect message informs id in use on computer , cannot reused. this can resolved removing authorization using ctrl-shift-d library screen on ade (cmd-shift-d if on mac). restart ade, , reauthorize (old) adobe id. hi everyone. hard disk divided. there xp , ubuntu in hard disk, , asks start. want delete xp partititon , let ubuntu control whole hdd.ubuntu must default os , no question in start-up.how? in advance. the simple way install ubuntu live cd , tell installer program use entire hard disk. but, , repeat but, remove files , documents. so, backup not want loose. second way use live cd , go try ubuntu , launch gparted. , use remove windows partitions (there more one) , re-size ubuntu partition take space , fill whole hard disk. need boot ubuntu , run command code: sudo update-grub to refresh grub menu no longer shows windows xp option. plan first. regards. we have single licesnse contribute 4.0, , needed on new computer. adobe rep told delete version on old computer, , install on new computer. however, rep failed mention, download cannot found anywhere. after having deleted it, we're stuck without contribute on workstation. can't support agent b/c serial number old.   any suggestions? hello!   i'm sending link in message.   please check pm. i upgraded captivate 7 , using widget embed web page content first time.   the project looks fine when preview it, when publish , post our lms (sumtotal maestro), widget appears skewed in resulting course window, whole widget shifted 60 pixels left , 30 pixels down.   i have tried using multiple web sites, don't think problem.   there transform property, gets set automatically when drag widget around interface screen. on hunch moved widget's transform property 60 pixels right , 30 pixels up. worked, in updated widget looks better in final published project. it's skewed both in workspace , when preview it, not mention getting precisely needs going process of moving couple of pixels, publishing , seeing how looks, repeating.   has encountered this? there setting i'm missing somewhere messes transform property?   thank you! hello here's incredible situation i made 1 page folio/article contains video , uploaded it downloaded on content viewer on ipad. i see it, launch it, ok works. but, forgot put "full page" video, , ... there no way go library. i updadted article since,put page before etc. but if close app, , force close, when open i'm on page/article , can launch damn video ! i can't log out or else, i'm trapped in here !   ok solution delete content viewer , install again, i'll lose folios downloaded on ipad ...   any workaround ?   thanks lot ! you can try tap tap tap tap, tap , see if brings title bar. had happen other day file sent me full page image sequence. tapping on , on again brought title bar. promptly removed folio. <g> More discussions in Digital Publishing Suite adobe

how these options preferences dialog supposed work? they don't work import dialog. and, "ignore camera-generated folder names when naming folders". i not find effect option on preferences dialog.   when devices selected source, can not see camera folders.   so should select files section. when files selected source, can choose "organize folders" option seeing camera folder names. but in case, can not see difference whether or not option checked.
