alright decided give xubuntu 12.04 whirl, , i'm faced same problem had before... can't run linux programs flash drive, removable hard drives, or sd-cards. there anyway disable security prevents running linux programs on fat32 or ntfs formated removable media? or there way can force ubuntu/xubuntu run programs? btw, know mount these things, takes fun out of "removable" because after remove media, won't mount again. want running portable games in linux without having copy , past things , forth. miss how things before 11.xx, remember when use use xubuntu 10.04 on desktop , laptop's (but can't since 10.04 doesnt support netbooks intell wireless card), run ever wanted off flash drive. i love know how can done well... the gvfs ftp backend shows no files me though know there files. correctly create new file (which promptly invisible). believe problem here gvfs ftp backend assumes sending ftp "list -a" command goodness (to list all files in directory). dubious interpretation of ftp spec. can see why done way however. there needs way of turning off (for ftp servers not interpret "-a" in assumed way nb: ftp server not linux/unix.). such mechanism exist? there other workaround? upgraded ubuntu 12.04 (for unrelated reasons). confirming no change in behaviour i.e. still doesn't work. i've been getting strange issue ae cc on imac. i'm compositing animated short film , have been getting lot of application hangs , crashes. comps have layered psds backgrounds, quicktime prores 4444+alpha characters , prerenders tiff sequences. while working wiht these scenes, i've experienced excessive amount of spinning beach balls , around  5 - 10 necessary force quits day. strange thing when notice application starting hang up, if hit "command+space" bring mac spotlight textbox, ae releases beachball , starts working again.  i've not noticed on ae cs6 or other application. have activity monitor @ times because of issue i'm not seeing out of ordinary.   i've rebuilt spotlight database, turned on , off through terminal, added drives privacy tab in system preferences, rebuild spotlight index files, cleaned user, system , font caches, booted in safe mode , upgraded os 10.7.5 10.8.4, problem still occurring. i've gone through , uninstalled several ap...

we've run problems staff attempting combine multiple word files on network share, receiving 'error during processing'. problem not consistent (sometimes works) occurs frequently.   this issue occurs on adobe acrobat pro xi updated latest standard (checked updates).   environment:   windows 7 sp1 enterprise. i had interesting issue last night, after initial installation of ubuntu 12.04. installed google's chrome browser .deb file provided on google's site. then, when went play youtube video, had odd colors. matter of fact, green fine, blue , red alternated... including of shades in-between. people's faces blue, , sky had orangish-red tint it. well, problem chrome uses it's own flash player, , had default-repos flash included @ install. so, opened firefox, , did same thing. downloaded chromium, , did same thing. had remove chrome in order situation resolved. may issue people using chrome instead of chromium. had problem, , know how fix it? i have followed steps on how on launchpad. fix color problem, makes browser crash flippin' time. thing funny this, if on page, youtube video may embedded (like google+) colors never come out wrong. neither advertisments on youtube come...

i had problem on oneiric it's worse on precise. if i'm logged in, choosing switch user account brings me blank screen. can hit alt-f7 login or alt-f8 user logged in second's login. problem in oneiric well. work around there have 1 user account password knew, log (making suer either first or second login) , switch users whoever wanted. on precise if try switch specific user, can switch second user logged in login prompt, choosing other user gets blank screen , can hit alt-f7 or alt-f8. annoying workaround oneiric doesn't work now. have 3 active users on machine need able switch between them. hmmm. may have fixed it, though i'm not sure understand. installed lightdm software center, rebooted, , worked again, way did before oneiric. can arbitrarily switch between users again, without needing workaround. don't understand because light dm seems have been installed. @ least there process...
